I don't like pizza. It's just titivated cheese on toast with extra guff thrown on. Nothing special. And too bready.

Oh Christ, now the AUTHENTIC ARTISAN FOOD pseuds will come on and tell me how the SHIT you get in dominoes ISN'T AUTHENTIC and they had a PROPER PIZZA made by someone's eleventy six year old nonna in some inaccessible village in Italy that only cool.people know about, and it's the most complex, fascinating and delicious food ever created, not just flatbread with tomatoes and cheese.

Read somewhere that pizza was invented in New York by some Italian immigrants. They then introduced it to Italy as squaddies during the war.
Anyway, there is a traditional Catalan dish called coca (bread pastry with various tomatoey toppings) that might have been the original pizza.
I'm all fascinating facts, me.

Ha. Combine your two comments and that is amazingly close to a line from an older British crime drama (I remember the line and the look of the actor saying it but not the name, though it might have been Cracker) Anyway the guy saying it was old and semi senile and ended up being the serial murderer.
Pizza has been the name of flatbread in Italy for many centuries, well before tomatoes got there. The traditional Italian pizza as we know it is probably from the middle 19th, when it also came to America. Putting a variety of toppings on it came from there.
I did not have it New Years day as we made our own New's Year Eve with friends. Some of my favourite memories as a kid was doing that.

i went to a pizza restaurant in Naples....apparently the birthplace of pizzas. They had two types of pizza: margarita, and margarita with some oregano on it. The queue was about half an hour long. It was alright.

Had a deep dish just now from Uno's.
Its like a tease of what deep dish in Chicago is like but still yummy and their takeout specials are great.
Luckily though my favorite deep dish place is in VEgas so I get to fill my boots with proper deep dish and not chain deep dish whenever I go there.
(Fuck off bruuunnnooo and Nurse you weirdos.)
